On the mezzanine of a building without great attributes of the 70s next to one of the new expansion areas of Bilbao a small interior apartment hides itself streching its floor between two courtyards. What is raised here is a radical exercise in archaeology that aims to grab the intervention with the value of the original elements of carpentry that run through the house. In this way, the functions of the house are updated reusing the inheritances of the house and establishes an interior connector axis through a theatrical corridor that aims to supply the connection with the exterior through the intensive use of form and color.
Thus, understanding that the essence of the proposal lies in this search for contrasts between the intense color and the original texture of dark varnish woods and some expiring elegance, it is proposed:
_to rescue for reuse almost everything, with special emphasis on the elements of carpentry, cabinets, dressing rooms, doors and panels that are reused as connectors that enrich the space creating ambiguous relationships, which duplicate uses and connect rooms in various ways.
_ to change the interior corridor into a trigger of the house by connoting it with an archetypal section to two water, which allows on the one hand the registered passage of facilities and on the other the generation of two entrances of overhead light. This associated with the intensive use of pink in walls, doors and carpet, transforming the intestine of the house into a kind of abstract atmosphere of optimism and possibilities, which allows to escape from the null and void relationship of the apartment with the outside.
_to introduce color as a fundamental element of the project The use of color serves for a gradation that from the central space of the corridor centrifuges the space lowering intensity while allowing a second life to be given to the outdated elements of the house.
_ a formalization of the design and the detail of simple commissioning to achieve the objective with a minimum intervention and budget
