We intervene in a house that occupies a space not designed as a house in the original project of Ricardo de Bastida of the year 1920. Previous reforms of the protected building converted the undercover floor into houses with a conventional program.

This intervention studies the conditions of the domestic within the strong conditions of the container (compression of the space under the inclined planes, absence of visual contact with the street, forged at two levels).

The project strategy consists of equalizing the floor of the house by raising the finish forty centimeters to reach the level present in the floor of the dome. This elevation allows a free distribution of the facilities, allowing displacements with respect to the original location and the addition of new elements. Under the raised floor is stored, simplifying the need for furniture items. On the elevated floor, bathtubs are formed. Each bathtub corresponds to a space of use, bathtub in the literal sense, or space of beds, seat area around the kitchen. The raised floor allows the view of the street and the surroundings through the roof skylights. As 'emergent' elements only enclosures on fixed walls are included. The 'high' wardrobes of the rooms are mobile, in a solution halfway between the flexibility of use of the space and the playful component of the house.

The children who inhabit it refer to the corners of their house as 'the lair', 'the little house'.

They have found an environment at their scale in which they develop their autonomy, in which they access the stored and move freely according to their own impulses of activity.
